Someday

Privacy

Someday is a read-later app. It stores the things you save so it can show them back to you, and nothing else. This page says exactly what that means.

What is stored

  • Your account — an email address and a hashed password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered, only reset.
  • The articles you save — the address, and the article text fetched from it, so it can be read without the original page. This is the substantial one: it is a record of things you chose to read.
  • What you did with them — read or unread, archived, favourited, priority, tags, collections, highlights and the notes on them, and roughly how far through each article you are.
  • Your devices — a name you can recognise and an expiry, so you can sign a lost phone out from somewhere else.

What is never collected

  • No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs.
  • No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone.
  • No profile built from what you read. Nobody is sold anything, because there is nothing to sell and no arrangement under which to sell it.

Reading aloud

Read-aloud uses the voice built into your phone or computer. The article text is spoken on the device and is not sent anywhere to be synthesised.

Where it lives

In the region closest to you — Europe, North America or Asia-Pacific — chosen when you sign up and shown in your settings. It stays there.

Someday is open source and can be self-hosted. If you are using someone else's instance, this page describes the software; the operator of that instance is the one holding the data.

Getting it back, or getting rid of it

Everything you have saved can be exported as a file from settings, at any time, without asking anyone. Deleting your account removes the account, the articles, the highlights and the devices. It is not a flag on a row that stays behind.

Children

Someday is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
